The Gates is carried by James Van Der Beek’s unsettling performance as Pastor Jacob. Sadly, the messy story, forgettable characters, baffling decisions and cringeworthy dialogue undermine the film. There are flashes of of claustrophobia and tension but not enough to hold attention. Bad film.

It was decent. There were some moves made to support where the storyline leads, but wouldn’t likely happen in real life. There was a lot of symbolism in this movie. Overall ok to watch, but would probably watch it while folding laundry lol
